Eclipse specialises in all types of timber flooring including engineered floating timber floors.

Hopefully we can answer all of your questions regarding this product.

1. What is floating timber floor?

The name says it all. Explained simply this means the floor is not fixed to the subfloor but instead is floated on a bed of underlay leaving an expansion gap around the walls for natural movement in the timber, the gap being covered with a finishing bead or skirting board.

Eclipse floating timber floor matches world standards paying attention to fine detail from a selection of the world’s finest hardwood veneers giving a timeless beauty that will transform and add value to any room.

That is why Eclipse is Western Australia ’s most popular floating timber floor retailer.

Our floors are a multi-bonded product consisting of a 4mm (minimum) hard wood surface and a 10mm pine ply core board. This product is engineered to exact standards with a tongue and groove allowing it to be installed with ease and precision.

It can be installed professionally by one of our fully skilled trades people or alternatively we can supply you with all the necessary information for D.I.Y. installation.

You can choose from up to 30 different finishes. These include numerous different species of timber in 3 basic surface profiles. These being 3 stave (parquetry), 2 stave (narrow plank) or single strip (wide plank).

2. How long will it last?

The surface layer is as re-coatable as conventional floorboards. This gives the availability to be re-sanded and coated several times. So your floor will continue to impress for many years. We don’t just sell quality we guarantee it with a Lifetime Structural Warranty.

3. Is it environmentally friendly?

The simple answer is yes.

All the timbers selected are as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible using plantation regrowth timbers and Pine/Ply wood core board.

4. Is it noisy?

It is no secret that timber veneer floating floors have a reputation of being noisy underfoot. That is why we have developed Firmalay Underlay, which is a high-density rubber underlay (unlike conventional polystyrene foam which can be highly flammable and have limited noise reduction). Firmalay reduces foot noise by up to 60% and noise transfer by up to 20 decibels, this is an added advantage for multistorey dwellings.

5. How do I maintain it?

Floating timber floor is resistant to daily wear and tear. However steps can be taken to maintain the natural warmth and beauty of your floor.

Eclipse recommends door mats wherever possible.

Felt pads or furniture protectors, which we can supply.

General maintenance should be by form of static mopping using a dry dust stick or damp mopped, being careful not to over wet.

Eucalyptus oil can be added to warm water to help remove scuffs or sticky marks.
