NOW CARING FOR YOUR FLOOR IS AS EASY AS 1, 2, 3

Congratulations on choosing a Polycure polyurethane to protect and enhance the natural beauty of your floor. With the right type of care and regular maintenance it will stay looking good for a long time to come. If you follow these simple, time saving procedures you will extend the life of the Polycure coating and reduce the necessity for ongoing, costly recoats.

1. CARING FOR YOUR NEW FLOOR:

Generally your new floor can be walked on the first day following the applications of the final coating.

  • Avoid walking on it with street shoes for the first four to six days.
  • Avoid dragging furniture over the floor at any time as it can easily mark or scratch the surface.
  • Use protective pads on the bottom of all furniture legs.
2. ONGOING CARE:

Dirt, sand and grit are abrasive materials, which can easily damage a floor coated with polyurethanes, (grit on the sole of shoes can have the same effects as sandpaper on the polyurethane surface). Mats placed at the entry doors and in heavy traffic areas will both reduce abrasion through dirt and grit removal and protect the coating. The floor should be washed regularly with warm water containing half a cup of methylated spirits per household bucket. Avoid harsh detergents and abrasive cleansers. DO NOT USE MORE THAN HALF A CUP OF METHO in water or pure metho alone as it may soften the coating and reduce the life of your floor.

3. RECOATING:

Floors are subject to different wear patterns depending on the use, traffic density, traffic paths and the purposes for which the premises or rooms are use. It is, therefore, difficult to generalise in predicting the time when a maintenance coat is desirable. It is important however, to ensure a floor is recoated before it has worn excessively to avoid the additional expense of totally resanding and coating the floor with a number of coats. In most cases, a regular maintenance coat after a few years will eliminate the need for more costly repairs. Careful preparation to label instructions is essential before recoating.
